Our two big winter events are back this month: the Game Over, T1D! Steam Sale and our annual Twitch fundraiser, Raid for Research. Plus, we got some good news last week from Washington, DC. Without further ado…
Game Over, T1D! Steam Sale — today through February 19
For the next week, more than 50 games and DLC are up to 90% off to make a big statement: it’s time to say “game over” to type 1 diabetes.
The developers and publishers of these games have pledged to make a donation to Breakthrough T1D. Show them how much their support means to you by picking up a game or two (or more—we won’t stop you!) before 10:00 a.m. PT on February 19.
Whatever your favorite genre, this sale has something for everyone. Struggling to make a decision? Lucky for you, our Ready Type 1 Ambassadors will be streaming games from the sale on the Steam page and their own channels all week.
Raid for Research — February 27
Every year, an elite crew of Breakthrough T1D Play streamers mobilize for the explosive all-day fundraiser known as Raid for Research. Ten creators streaming for two hours each, with a $30K fundraising goal—can they smash it? Find out on February 27!
Our sponsor Abbott, maker of the FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus systems, will be back this year to match donations and help make our seventh annual Raid for Research the best one yet. Whether you hop aboard the raid train on its first stop or check in throughout the day, we’ll see you in chat.
Special Diabetes Program (SDP) Extended in the US
Good news from the advocacy front: last week Breakthrough T1D announced that the United States Congress has passed bipartisan legislation to extend and strengthen the Special Diabetes Program (SDP), a cornerstone of federal investment in T1D research.
Since its inception in 1997, the SDP has contributed nearly $3.6 billion to T1D research and has played a role in nearly every major breakthrough in the field. Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF) has worked alongside bipartisan champions in Congress to sustain and strengthen this critical research investment.
