Vintage vs. Type 1

Vintage vs.
Type 1

Vintage vs. Type 1 returns this October, bringing together the Magic: The Gathering community for a weekend of high-level play and fundraising.

The event begins on Wednesday, October 1, with a Vintage Cube Trophy Race in Magic: The Gathering Online. Content creators across the community will host their own streams, competing on the leaderboard while raising funds and awareness for type 1 diabetes research.

The spotlight shifts to the MTGO Twitch channel on Saturday and Sunday, October 4–5, when longtime Magic luminary Brian David-Marshall will host a series of Vintage Cube Drafts featuring his friends and legendary players. Viewers will be able to directly support the cause, with donations unlocking special in-game rewards such as free Vintage Cube Drafts, exclusive avatars, and a week of All-Access play.

Last year’s event raised more than $15,100. Let’s surpass that in 2025!

“I was diagnosed with diabetes even before I started playing Magic back in the early ’90s. Back then, the format we played was simply known as Magic.

A couple of years later, when Type 2 (now known as ‘Standard’) was announced, the most encompassing format was retronymed to Type 1 (now known as ‘Vintage’) and I have had the two intertwined in my life ever since.”
