Happy summer! The new Breakthrough T1D Play fundraising season kicked off July 1. This means there’s a brand new set of fundraising prizes for you to earn by charity streaming, and we have two fun ways for you to do that this summer. Read on for details!
(Btw, if you missed the news last month, Breakthrough T1D Play is the new name of JDRF Game2Give. This blog post explains why.)
New Fundraising Prizes
Of course you should raise money for Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF) because it feels good to make a difference in the quest to cure type 1 diabetes (T1D). But if you also do it to get these prizes, we won’t judge!
Here’s our Season 6 line-up:
- $100: Pancreas Not Found T-shirt. Drawn by Ready Type 1 Ambassador 8BitVal, this T1D dino is just having one of those days. Light gray tee available in Unisex S–5XL sizes. (In years past, you had to raise. $250 to get a shirt. Not anymore!)
- $250: Controller Button Beanie. Warm your head in style with this comfy fleece-lined navy blue beanie, featuring our iconic Breakthrough T1D Play controller buttons embroidered in cyan.
- $500: Breakthrough T1D Keycaps. Seven cherry-profile themed keycaps add just the right amount of flair to your streaming keyboard.
- $1,000: Controller Button Pullover. Pair your beanie with a cozy navy quarter-zip pullover that also features our controller button logo embroidered in cyan. Available in Unisex S–5XL sizes.
- $1,500: Pancreas Not Found Rufus. JDRF may have changed its name, but Rufus hasn’t gone anywhere! This cuddly mascot has been comforting kids with T1D for more than twenty-five years. Our Season 6 Rufus comes with a new Breakthrough T1D shirt AND a Pancreas Not Found dino shirt.
- $3,000: Controller Button Neon Light. Set the mood with this neon light in our vintage logo colors. Comes with a clear acrylic stand, a battery pack, and a wall plug.
- $5,000: Steam Deck or Nintendo Switch. As an extra special “thank you” to this season’s top fundraisers, Breakthrough T1D Play will spring for a Steam Deck or Nintendo Switch (your choice) for anyone who raises $5,000 or more!

July 14–21: Australian Diabetes Week
In honor of Australia’s National Diabetes Week, we’re teaming up with JDRF Australia in support of the 130K people living with type 1 diabetes in Australia.* This is our first time doing an event targeted at a specific region, and we’re calling on our streaming pals down under to help us make it a success!
Through July 21, we’re asking our Australian community members to go live on Twitch and YouTube to raise awareness and funds for JDRF Australia. Please spread the word to any Aussie streamers you know.
* Breakthrough T1D’s Australian affiliate is holding on to the old JDRF name a little longer. They’ll rebrand in March 2025.
August 16–25: Game Over, T1D!
Each summer, our community flocks to Twitch to level up the fight against type 1 diabetes during the 10-day fundraising extravaganza known as Game Over, T1D! This year’s dates are August 16–25 and we have a lot of fun in store, from speedrunning to esports to giveaways and more.
But why wait until August? Start streaming now and get a head start on earning those Season 6 prizes!

New Streaming Assets

Stream Spotlight: Blue Heart Awards
June 30 marked the end of a banner fundraising season for Breakthrough T1D Play (formerly JDRF Game2Give), in large part due to our awesome community raising $230K on Tiltify. That’s the most we’ve raised with charity streams in the five years since this program started!
We recently recognized the Breakthrough T1D Play community with our second annual Blue Heart Awards ceremony, where we handed out twenty-five trophies to people who made a big difference during our fifth fundraising season. Categories included Top 10 Fundraisers, Top 5 Fundraising Teams, Ambassador of the Year, Newbie of the Year, and a special “We’d Be Lost Without You” award.
The Blue Hearts are extra special because each winner gets a physical trophy to recognize their contribution. The trophies are 3D printed by Ready Type 1 Ambassador Toonafeesh, and they’re beauties! Check out Toona’s behind-the-scenes video to see how the sausage trophies get made.
Our awards ceremony on Twitch highlighted recent wins in type 1 diabetes research and advocacy, celebrated the six streaming events Breakthrough T1D Play organized this season, and of course recognized each winner for their efforts over the past year. For those who weren’t able to tune in live, we’ve archived the VOD on our Twitch channel.
