Our 10-day summer fundraiser starts tomorrow

It’s August, and that can mean only one thing: the annual Game Over, T1D! fundraiser is here. Plus: an incredible Humble Bundle benefitting Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF), and a Ready Type 1 ambassador who has raised $11K and counting in honor of his best friend.

Join us August 16–25 for Game Over, T1D!

This is our fifth year holding a 10-day streaming event during the dog days of summer, and it’s going to be epic! Our fundraising goal is $40,000—want to help us get there by hosting a charity stream or two?

Streamer Spotlight: CalebratedGamer

Ready Type 1 Ambassador CalebratedGamer, aka Caleb Dickerson, reached out to Breakthrough T1D Play (then called JDRF Game2Give®) when we were planning our very first Twitch event in 2019. He’d already done some in-person walks in support of his best friend, Blac Hughes, and was excited to combine his passion for video games with support for a cause that meant a lot to Blac’s family.

Caleb happens to be a big fan of Telltale Games—a nice coincidence considering our program was started by Telltale Games cofounder (and T1D dad) Dan Connors. A highlight of Caleb’s charity streams over the years have been his playthroughs of Telltale’s Walking Dead series with the game’s developers joining him on stream to share behind-the-scenes stories.

This month he’ll do the same for Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse, a Telltale game that has just been remastered by Dan’s indie studio, Skunkape Games. Visit the Game Over, T1D! page for the schedule, and keep an eye on the Breakthrough T1D Twitter/X account for chances to win your own copy of Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse.

“Fundraising for Breakthrough T1D means honoring the memory of my best friend and supporting a cause deeply connected to his life,” Caleb says of his participation in Breakthrough T1D Play. “It allows me to make a meaningful impact by raising funds and collaborating with wonderful members of the gaming community for something that means the world to me.” If there were an award for Best Diabuddy, Caleb would get our vote!
