Apply to be a Ready Type 1 Ambassador! Our Ambassadors extend Breakthrough T1D Play’s reach into streaming and gaming communities, so we can make an even greater impact in the fight against type 1 diabetes.
Ready Type 1 Ambassadors are responsible for spreading awareness about Breakthrough T1D Play and organizing activities that support our events throughout each annual fundraising season.
Our Ambassadors play a critical role in signal boosting Breakthrough T1D Play’s fundraising efforts and increasing awareness about T1D. Your time commitment will vary based on activities you choose and how you want to help.
Qualifications:
- Passionate about supporting Breakthrough T1D and the Breakthrough T1D Play program.
- Some experience using livestreaming and social platforms/software. (You do NOT need to be an expert!)
- Familiarity with type 1 diabetes and Breakthrough T1D, or a willingness to learn.
Ready Type 1 Ambassadors Are…
- PASSIONATE: Ready Type 1 Ambassadors are relentless in their support of Breakthrough T1D’s mission to find a cure for T1D, as many have T1D themselves or have a loved one with T1D. Being intimately familiar with the struggles of having T1D, they actively seek to learn more and support Breakthrough T1D in any way they can.
- INNOVATIVE: Being innovative isn’t just about the science behind finding a cure for T1D—it’s also about doing things differently or doing things that have never been done before. Ready Type 1 Ambassadors embrace this change on all fronts, and actively cultivate environments in which their communities are inspired to challenge the status quo, push boundaries, and achieve growth.
- COLLABORATIVE: Finding a cure for T1D requires everybody to chip in. Ready Type 1 Ambassadors lend their collaborative mindsets, working together often to offer unique value, perspective, and expertise to boost the Breakthrough T1D Play initiative and Breakthrough T1D’s overall mission.
- RESPECTFUL: We value everyone who is contributing to Breakthrough T1D’s mission and the fight against T1D. We treat everyone with respect, practicing honest, open, two-way communications that lead us on the best path forward while keeping us focused on our goal.
- TRUSTWORTHY: Ready Type 1 Ambassadors value integrity above all. We keep our promises and follow through with one another. We know that being straightforward, transparent, truthful, and ethical is the foundation of all success.
- APPRECIATIVE: However big or small the contribution of time, energy, or dollars—every effort advancing Breakthrough T1D’s mission is valued equally. Ready Type 1 Ambassadors are stewards of the hopes and dreams of many who are relying on Breakthrough T1D to find a cure, which is why celebrating achievements, supporting one another, and showing our gratitude is crucial to our success.
- RESULTS-ORIENTED: Ready Type 1 Ambassadors are driven to produce results, not just actions. Strategic, decisive, and determined, Ready Type 1 Ambassadors work hard and dedicate themselves to setting the right goals and to see measurable outcomes. In doing so, we move closer to a work without T1D.
Breakthrough T1D, as an organization, has defined the values that its staff and volunteers strive to uphold as we drive toward curing T1D. When you see an official Ready Type 1 Ambassador’s channel, you will know what to expect from that streamer and their community. Our Ambassadors go above and beyond to exemplify these aspirational principles.
Stream Responsibilities
- Complete at least ONE charity stream in support of Breakthrough T1D per fundraising season. (Our seasons run from July 1 – June 30.)
THIS INCLUDES:
- Livestream to raise funds for Breakthrough T1D on Tiltify
- Promote your campaign and donation link to your networks
- Set a fundraising goal
- Help Breakthrough T1D Play promote sponsors & partnerships
OPTIONAL:
- Host a charity stream during official Breakthrough T1D Play events
- Offer incentives/milestones to enhance your charity stream
- Host more than one day of streaming
- Join Breakthrough T1D Play staff for official Twitch channel stream activities, including but not limited to:
- T1D TUESDAY: This bimonthly streaming series provides an opportunity to learn more about topics regarding type 1 diabetes from experts at Breakthrough T1D, external thought leaders, and community members. Our goal is to have each of our Ready Type 1 Ambassadors featured.
- TWITCH TAKEOVER: Ready Type 1 Ambassadors can host a stream on the Breakthrough T1D Twitch channel, with the support of our staff. Ambassadors often do Twitch Takeovers to play games included in Steam sales and Humble Bundles supporting Breakthrough T1D.
- COMMUNITY GAMES: We encourage Ambassadors to join us for co-op games, Diabetes & Dragons, and other community activities on our Twitch channel.
General Responsibilities
- Join the Ready Type 1 Stream Team on Twitch (we’ll send you an invite). When you conduct any official activities in support of Breakthrough T1D Play, we ask that you have the Ready Type 1 Stream Team visible on your Twitch profile.
- Join the Ready Type 1 Stream Team on Tiltify (we’ll send you an invite). When you participate in official activations, please link your Tiltify campaign to the team campaign so the money you raise will count toward our team goal.
- Join the Breakthrough T1D Play Discord community. We’ll add the appropriate role to your Discord profile within the server.
- Share your story and one or more photos for future communications and features on our website and social media.
- Spread awareness in your online communities (e.g., Discord, Instagram, TikTok, Twitch, X/Twitter, and YouTube).
- Represent Breakthrough T1D at local Walks and other in-person events.
- Understand and share Breakthrough T1D resources and information.
- Offer feedback and expertise on streaming best practices and guidelines to other Breakthrough T1D Play community members.
- Communicate with our staff on a regular basis, as needed.
